how to blanch almonds

simple instructions on how to blanch almonds, both with and without the microwave ...

how to blanch almonds Does your recipe call for blanched almonds, yet you only have almonds in their earthy, brown skins?

Well, don't worry, for blanching almonds is a very simple affair ...

Basically, all you need do is tip them into boiling water for 30 seconds, drain and rinse, then squeeze the creamy nuts out of their brown skins.

It's always easier to pinch the nut out of its skin whilst it's still warm.

And, you can also blanch almonds in your microwave.

Don't leave them too long in the boiling water as you shouldn't cook them - just blanch them.

Once blanched, you can then use them as they are, or toast/roast them, depending on your recipe.
